to BUILD on

Blue is not really an arts and crafts kind of guy. Every once and a while he finds something that he seems to connect with though. He has enjoyed painting little dinosaur figures and various wooden cars and trains. Having something to build on seems to be a good hook for him. A blank sheet of paper is a little overwhelming. They did a long unit on castles at his school and he was pretty into this when he brought it home. We love to see him so focused!

 

The castle ended up in the trash after Wiley got her hands on it. No way it was going to survive an international move anyhow. I figure pictures are a good enough way of documenting this stuff. And on that note, here is Wiley modeling Blue's "soldier" hat. Everyone in his class chose a role to play in the castle scenario and Blue was a soldier who protected the King and Queen. Plus, his favorite color is red. Wiley's is pink, in case you couldn't tell.
