our first VISITORS

It is a long way from Texas to Tokyo. And now our families know just how far it is. My mom spent two weeks around her Spring Break visiting us and a couple days after she left the two elder Davises arrived for a two week visit of their own. We enjoyed showing them all around the city and how we manage (sometimes just barely) to get around it ourselves. Everyone got to see some cherry blossoms and my mom even snuck in a celebrity sighting (Avril Lavigne dressed in a pink miniskirt and four-inch turquoise platform shoes strolling through Harajuku). We saw the big crazy shopping districts and the quiet old streets. We drank the sakura special from McDonalds and ordered sushi for delivery. We tried three times to get to a shrine sale (Japanese upscale flea market and my absolute favorite thing to do in Tokyo) and succeeded once. We took a side trip to Hakone with the Davis crew (stay tuned for separate post). And we had a late night viewing of Frozen to help beat jet lag.

The month flew by and we look forward to some more visitors in May. And to seeing our family again regularly when we come back in July.
