getting it DONE

Our landscaping quote came back ridiculously high and the weather was perfect so we spent the weekend outside getting stuff DONE. Poor Graham, between my pregnant belly and Blue's shenanigans he winds up doing 90% of the work. Landscaping is just tough and there was no way I could handle that machine without doing some damage. We are going to hire a $10/hour guy to come out this week and do some digging and moving of stuff and hopefully, within two weeks time we will be putting plants in the ground.

Dad got a rootbeer shake for his troubles. And Blue tried to gobble as many sips down as he could before we took the straw away. I didn't quite capture it here but he had the most spoiled smirk on his face!

the TODDLER room

Here are some sneak peaks of Blue's new toddler room. I'll try and get a full tour posted soon but in the meantime... He has not actually slept in the new room yet. We still need to Blue-proof the room a bit and get a gate or something for the door.

Last week I subbed in and watched my friends' little three month old girl. She has got to be the sweetest, easiest baby in the world so it wasn't so hard. What was hard was being a little more confined to the house. Blue and I like to get out and about during the day and it was just a little much to zip around town with two in tow. Of the two times we left the house all week, one of those times involved a flat tire and a "thank goodness I brought that extra bottle" kind of afternoon. Come July I am sure I will learn to adjust to a new normal but it will definitely be an adjustment.

(Blue found the two most tolerant beings on the planet and decided to ring them, over and over again. I even caught Lucy taking a nap the other day with the red ring perched over her ear.)

thank you, STEVE

Just one more, sorry for cramming all the posts into one night. It is easier to get them up in batches somehow. Here is Blue playing the iPad. He loves this thing and has it completely mastered. He can turn it on, navigate in and out of his favorite apps, and for the most part avoids anything boring (like mom's email and wifi settings). It is a big help when we are out at a restaurant and he is done sitting by the time the food arrives. Or to distract him a bit when I am trying to feed him something he usually won't eat.

the PUZZLE master

Blue discovered puzzles this week and they quickly became a new favorite. I like activities that help build his concentration and attention span so it is a good find. He caught on really quickly that he needed to match the images up. It took him a bit to get over the initial frustration of having a piece not fit but he will keep at it now without getting too worked up.

The horse piece is his favorite. He will save that one until he has finished the rest of the puzzle. Then he will stick it in and take it back out real quick so he can continue to carry it around. He seems to like his toys and things to have a place so I am sure he appreciates the order of puzzles. He would have kept at this one for a good long while if he hadn't caught me with the camera.

a FAVORITE game

Blue loves the the video camera and it is almost impossible to get him to continue with whatever cute thing he was doing once he sees me filming him. But the "boo" game is impossible to resist.

it's still BIG

Guess who gets the most hugs in our house...

Blue turned sixteen months old last week. I think he is bigger than Lucy now. Taller at least. He still comes in at the 25-50% in both weight and height but his head seems to be growing a little quicker. It has moved up from the 90th to the 97th percentile. I will have to work hard to fill that growing brain up with nice things.

our MUD pit

This is where we have been spending all our free weekends...

We had a crew with big machines come in and remove all the dirt and then Graham and various assistants (me, Blue, Edward, Russell, Scott, Mark, etc.) did the rest. The spot where you see Graham digging is the exact same spot Blue is sitting in the second pic. We have progressed a bit even beyond these pics but are considering hiring a crew to come in and finish it out. We'll see how the quote comes back...

a FAT lip

Ouch! Blue has fallen plenty of times but he bonked his lip on the way down from this one and came away with a big fat lip to show for it. Usually when he falls and cries I give him a quick once over to make sure everything is okay before giving him a hug and moving on. This time his mouth was full of blood so that freaked me out a bit.

We got the blood cleaned up, made sure the cut wasn't serious, called dad to bring home some popsicles (that is rasberry juice on his mouth), and watched his new favorite video (Circle of Life intro from The Lion King) a few times and he seemed fine. Even ate some dinner like normal. The swelling is down quite a bit today with just a bit of redness around the area.
