I've been taking school pictures at my mom's preschool this week. Still my two favorite test subjects...

dreams of HAIR
For insurance reasons, we are having baby number two at a birthing center assisted by midwives, instead of at home. The procedures are all basically the same except you are at a bed and breakfast like facility instead of in your own space. But, one thing that is different is that they require all clients to get an ultrasound. So I had mine last week and everything looked good (gender is still a surprise!). As the tech was showing us various parts and features on the screen, she mentioned that the baby had a lot of hair. I said "really?" in a doubtful voice. Blue was in the room with us and he clearly does not fall under that description. But it is all relative right. My hopes were raised though. I have always dreamed of having a baby with thick, dark, curly hair. Ha. It is not impossible (Graham has dark hair and my sister's is thick and curly) but the stars would have to align just so.
This is me not too far off from Blue's age. His hair reminds me of mine just less of it :(. Nice couch, huh! Ah, the 80s. I was helping dad look for studs in the wall.

happy NINETEEN months
Happy nineteen months to Blue Michael.
This is what he thought of my brilliant photo shoot idea :(. Plan B failed too. So we went to Plan C which was to take pictures of him while he messed with the window blinds and drank his water. Funny thing: his shirt says Mr. Happy!

explosion of WORDS
Blue's language skills and interest in words has just exploded in recent weeks. He doesn't do much stringing of multiple words together but he is always mimicking the sounds you make back. And remembering them for later. Several trips to the grocery store ago there was a man at the sample stand giving away bites of organic hot dogs. So we had some and I told Blue what they were. I thought it might confuse him because they don't look anything like dogs and they were not hot. He already knew the meaning of both of those words. But the next trip and every trip thereafter he asks about hot dogs when we pass by that spot. Below is a video of a new concept to go with some new words. I love it when he can grasp a new concept like this - makes so many situations easier when you have the words to communicate.

a day's WORK
A little whining...
Studying up...
On trucks.
A little exploring...
Just like dad. Well, sorta.
Off to take over the world.
