early BIRTHDAY present

I had been looking for a simple ball and track contraption for Blue when I mentioned it to my mom and, lo and behold, she already had one that she was saving back for his birthday. We decided to do an early gifting and the toy has been a big hit. He figured it out immediately and especially enjoys the bell at the end.



And since this next bit of info will be near impossible to capture I figured I would just tack it on here. Blue has three new teeth! One top tooth and one bottom tooth pushed through on Sunday and this morning his second top one finally caught up. No real fussiness to speak of though.

what a MESS

This is what happens when we don't use enough applesauce to sweeten the porridge!



Usually I can keep Blue amazingly clean while he eats. But he was not digging the oatmeal and it wound up everywhere! He had to get a morning bath to remove all the stickiness.

pat pat PAT

Last weekend, Blue learned to pat Lucy instead of pinching her fur or pulling on her ears. Not to say he has completely stopped those activities but you catch him doing it, and you tell him to "pat pat" instead, then odds are in Lucy's favor. He seems to be quite proud that he has found a way to interact with Lucy and get a positive reaction.

keeping it CLASSY

We had a friend over for burgers and beer last night and this morning Blue discovered the can still sitting on the coffee table. He decided he needed a little refreshment for the road...

Literally, he was pushing his birds happily along, saw the can, stopped, picked it up, and kept walking. Like father, like son.

TIME of night

It's that time of night and here we have two tired boys... and a load of laundry en route to the wash.

Usually Graham does the bath and I do the bottle but those tired eyes said "mama, please don't make me move".

Right to sleep without a peep.

four to TWO

My mom bought Blue a cute wooden walker back before he was born and now he spends a good portion of each day walking up and down the pathways through the house. This walker is not the sort of contraption that is more like an exersaucer on wheels. Mostly, it just helps him keep his balance as he learns to put one foot in front of the other. As he moves forward, the sweet woodpeckers click and clack. This video was taken when he first decided to try the thing out late last week. He has gotten a bit better already....

I kept on reminding myself to post something yesterday and I still forgot. So here it is, a day late...

TOYS he likes

Blue has a few toys he really seems to like. Number one on his list is the shape sorter. It is a wooden box with a hinged lid that he can spend minutes opening and closing. Taking pieces in and out. He has even gotten the shapes through the holes a few times. New on his list of favorites is this thing. For a while all he would really do is throw the disks around. But then, all of the sudden, he could take them on and off no problem.




Blue seems to us to be a classic boy in his personality and in the activities he enjoys. He is loud, active, aggressive, mechanically inclined, charming, affectionate, and social.

We went in to apply for Blue's passport last week (we are traveling to the Turks and Caicos in September!) and this is what he thought of all the crazy ladies trying to get him to smile at the camera. I wanted to tell them to just give me the camera and leave the room for a minute but figured it really wasn't worth the trouble. This photo is more entertaining anyway.

Here are some recent videos to bring everyone up to speed. Up first was going to be some general silliness but the file was too big. So instead here you have some silliness mixed with eating blueberries.



We seem to have made it past the gagging hurdle. For a while there, the slightest chunk in his puree would induce a gag so this new advancement really opens up his food options.

28.5" (25th percentile)

Head circumference is holding strong in the 90th percentile.


I'm still adjusting to his new mobility. As soon as I get out the camera, he stops whatever cute thing he was doing and makes a beeline for me. In this instance, I guess the stick outranked the camera!
