brother AND sister

Now that Wiley can sit and scoot around a bit it seems like these two are engaging with each other a little more. Wiley loves watching Blue play and is easily charmed by his antics. And Blue is very sweet about bringing her toys to play with and even gives her the occasional back rub.

I hope they do become good friends.

happy VALENTINE'S day

Today was Blue's first official Valentine's Day where he made himself a box and handed out Valentine's to all his little friends at school. I wanted him to help me make them so we broke the tasks down into several afternoons - first leaf gathering, then leaf gluing and marker fun, and then button making. He actually was quite helpful and engaged!

And he really liked the fact that we created a whole new accessory category for his daily outfits. Buttons! He wanted to be sure everyone was wearing one.

PS - Have I mentioned on here Blue's daily wardrobe essentials? It is hard to say which item ranks highest in priority order but his daily requests are blue jeans, cowboy boots, a jacket, and a hat.

Both sides of the family seem to collect children's books and this one has been a favorite for a few years now. The author recently released a sequel and my mom's school is using it for their current unit on "Importance". My dad said it reminded him of Wiley-girl with her big blue eyes and crazy dark hair!

So true.

Ha. No pun intended.

happy SEVEN months

Wiley-girl is slowly becoming her own little person! She is sweet and easy-going, until something happens that she really doesn't like and then she will let you know. Number one on her list of dislikes - waiting for you to get her bottle ready. Number two - laying her down to change her diaper. But really, mostly just sweetness here.

She can scoot and wiggle her way around the floor. My bet is she is crawling within the month. Oh, and she finally figured out how to swallow solid food. Greek yogurt was the first food to make it down. Since then she has had carrots and a pureed fruit medley. But the real winner was cheese grits. That was Papa's special birthday request and she was happy to celebrate with him on those.

Don't let Blue's jackets fool you (he refuses to leave the house without one) - it is warm here in Austin lately. Which is actually quite nice except that I am already dreading the summer. And the mosquitoes. Happy February all! I think ours is going to be a busy one.
