I am not sure enough has been said on this blog about Blue's daily wardrobe choices and their inspiration...
Blue has always liked wearing accessories - caps, belts, gloves, what-have-you - and he is very particular about coordinating them to the activity. If he is going to be driving the tractor in Wimberley he is going to be wearing his "farmer" hat just like Papa's.

A month or so ago, I can't remember exactly, I showed him the Supercalifragalisticexpialidocious clip from Mary Poppins on You Tube. Instant favorite. And we discovered that Blue had a "boater hat" similar to the one Bert wears. So he started wearing it all the time. Over time the fascination grew and my grandmother got Blue the Mary Poppins DVD for Valentine's Day. Basically, it has progressed to the point where he gets up in the morning, or from nap in the afternoon, and immediately asks to "get dressed". Which means he wants to put on his gloves, a jacket, his hat, and his shoes just like Bert's. Then we set off to find his umbrella, just like Bert's. Notice a trend? He will meet a stranger and say "I'm Bert" to which they respond with confused faces. Sometimes he will even do a little crazy dance where he kicks his legs in the air as an added bonus.

The hat is about to fall apart at this point. It is sized for a 3-6 month baby and yet he still manages to stuff it on his large two year old head. I had to buy some extra jackets as he wears them like shirts. He refuses to wear anything but blue jeans. For a long while it was cowboy boots only. But now he seems to think his tennis shoes are a closer match to Bert's so his loyalty has switched. So funny! Bert is quite charming!
