NOT so easy

It turns out an "easy" hike for Aunt Ashley is not quite an easy hike for little toddler legs. Luckily she is a stud and managed to carry Blue up the mountain on her shoulders. Apparently it was a cozy spot because he fell asleep before we even got to the top. So we had to carry him back down too. We meaning Aunt Ashley of course. Too bad he missed the nice view...

We learned our lesson and planned accordingly on future outings...

week in COLORADO

We spent last week in Colorado visiting Graham's sister Ashley and her husband Jeb. They have a great place in Boulder and we all had a fun time enjoying the cooler weather, beautiful outdoors, and good company. So get ready for a blog post extravaganza!

PS - A bear broke into our car early in the week (who knew bears could open car doors!?!) and did some minor damage to some bags inside in an attempt to get at the food we had stashed. He also managed to change some settings on my camera so I spent most of the week thinking my camera lens was broken. It wasn't - but I still ended up taking all our trip pics on the iPhone.

PUMP it up

Here are some bath time snapshots. Blue really likes bath time in case you couldn't tell.

Graham almost always gives Blue his bath. Our tub doesn't hold water very well so it ends up being more of a mini-shower with Blue squatting at the spout to play. This seems to suit him just fine since he never sits fully on his bottom anyway and he likes filling up his various cups and then pouring the water out. What made this bath extra special? The recent addition of the water pump... and the sunglasses, of course.

These pictures also feature Blue's favorite facial expression - the wide open mouth and eyes glancing around to check out who might be watching him. The kid loves an audience.

ONE month today

One month today! She is growing so fast!

Height: 22 1/4 (90-95%)
Weight: 10lb 14oz (90%)
Head: 38.6cm (95-98%)

I thought this would be a good opportunity to write a bit about Miss Wiley. Overall, she is a really sweet, easy baby. For the first week I was waking her up every four hours at night to feed her. But once she had gained back her birth weight plus some I let her go and ever since she has been doing a long six hour stretch from 10ish to 4ish. Then she easily puts herself back to sleep and gets up again slowly around 7am. Not bad, right! She has long periods where she is awake and alert and loves to sit in your lap while you talk to her and rub her head. She will smile and coo a bit to show her appreciation. She is a quick, efficient eater - almost feels like a little snacker - and during the day eats every two to three hours. She takes a pacifier well and likes her swaddle. There are times during the day when she falls asleep in my arms but she seems to prefer laying on her own and slowly nodding off. She has a bit of baby acne that flares up with the heat or too much rubbing against fabric. Apparently I had the same when I was her age. Sorry, girl.

We love her!!! I promise you I am not biased - she really is this great :).

big brother FAIL

Poor Wiley. She was nice enough to share her new floor mat but Blue totally took it over. In theory, I suppose he was happy to share, as long as you didn't mind a foot in your face.

Unfortunately, Wiley was overwhelmed by Blue's shenanigans so I held her and together we watched Blue go crazy.

change of SCENE

So little girl has been getting baths. Here is the first one... She seems to like them.

more WILEY pics

So, it is hard to get a lot of variety in newborn pictures. I mean, they really can't do much. But Wiley does seem to have a good variety of facial expressions. Which is why I can never seem to edit these pictures down.
