a BLUES harp

Just two boys playing their harmonica...

Blue loved doing whatever Uncle Jeb was up to. A little wood chopping. A litle weeding. It was always something. And it was always something fun. Especially the harmonica playing. It was a brilliant idea on his part to bust those out and he even let Blue take one home. Very fun.

at the PARK

Graham took part of the morning and into the early evening to go on a solo fly fishing trip. So Ashley helped me entertain the little ones with some creek exploring, grass rolling, and good old fashion park fun.

love the PACK

So many of the trails we wanted to hike are not really stroller conducive and Blue doesn't really love sitting in the thing anyway so we borrowed a backpack from one of Ashley's friends and, thank goodness, Blue really enjoyed riding in it.

He also enjoyed smelling the Ponderosa Pines that smell like butterscotch. And looking at bear poop. And lizards. And eating jerky and crackers with dad. Wiley enjoyed the gentle bump of my step and fell right to sleep.

so cute TOGETHER

Oh the joys and trials of having an older brother. I never knew them myself but Wiley is definitely experiencing both the highs and the lows.

NOT so easy

It turns out an "easy" hike for Aunt Ashley is not quite an easy hike for little toddler legs. Luckily she is a stud and managed to carry Blue up the mountain on her shoulders. Apparently it was a cozy spot because he fell asleep before we even got to the top. So we had to carry him back down too. We meaning Aunt Ashley of course. Too bad he missed the nice view...

We learned our lesson and planned accordingly on future outings...

week in COLORADO

We spent last week in Colorado visiting Graham's sister Ashley and her husband Jeb. They have a great place in Boulder and we all had a fun time enjoying the cooler weather, beautiful outdoors, and good company. So get ready for a blog post extravaganza!

PS - A bear broke into our car early in the week (who knew bears could open car doors!?!) and did some minor damage to some bags inside in an attempt to get at the food we had stashed. He also managed to change some settings on my camera so I spent most of the week thinking my camera lens was broken. It wasn't - but I still ended up taking all our trip pics on the iPhone.

PUMP it up

Here are some bath time snapshots. Blue really likes bath time in case you couldn't tell.

Graham almost always gives Blue his bath. Our tub doesn't hold water very well so it ends up being more of a mini-shower with Blue squatting at the spout to play. This seems to suit him just fine since he never sits fully on his bottom anyway and he likes filling up his various cups and then pouring the water out. What made this bath extra special? The recent addition of the water pump... and the sunglasses, of course.

These pictures also feature Blue's favorite facial expression - the wide open mouth and eyes glancing around to check out who might be watching him. The kid loves an audience.
