the SIMPLE things
I was at the school today, taking photos to update their website, and caught this moment between Blue and one of his friends. He had just blown her a kiss and was pretty stoked when she blew one right back.

hard TWO believe
Happy birthday to my happy boy! He turned two today but we started the celebration on Saturday with some fun in the park with friends and family. Unfortunately, the fun outside turned into allergy suffering in the days since. I finally got the go-ahead from the pediatrician to give Blue Benedryl when the allergies set in after two back to back ear infections. And it has definitely helped to keep them from escalating.
We did presents tonight with Pops and Lolly and Aunt Mal. He got a Plex costume (a character from a TV show called Yo Gabba Gabba), a stomp rocket, a basket ball hoop, and a scooter and helmet. He really did love them all. It is hard to get so many amazing things all at once though. And right before bed at that. I am sure he is dreaming of riding his scooter as I type. He was an instant scooting pro.
What can I say about Blue at age two? He talks non-stop and with great enthusiasm. He really wants to know and connect to the people around him. He knows the names of and talks about all our friends. He is becoming more independent in his play and is starting to bring his imagination into it. He won't wear a pair of shoes unless he can put them on himself - "blues do it" he will say. He still loves his head accessories. As evidenced above. He continues to be a difficult eater but seems to be strong and growing regardless. He would be completely capable of using the potty if he wanted to but shows absolutely no interest. He doesn't want to have to stop what he is doing. He loves his sister and has learned to treat her with care... for the most part. He is excited about school in the morning and "ready to play" when he comes home in the afternoon. He loves his family and is super-lucky to be surrounded by so many people who love him right back.
Thank you all for helping us get this far. And for loving our son so well. Happy birthday, Bud.

happy THREE months
Happy three months to Miss Wiley True! She seems to be quite different than her older brother but is just as sweet as ever. In fact, sweet and serious and maybe just a little bit girly are the words that seem to fit her best at three months. She is dainty and demure in contrast to Blue's sturdy and outgoing demeanor. But they both seemed to enjoy the bouncy chair at this age and, of course, the hands are always a big hit (see link below):

sweet GIRL snuggles
Suzanne took these pics down in Belize and I figured they deserved their own post. This sweet girl loves to sit around and talk. She doesn't care about playing with toys or exercising her limbs. But she loves a good chat.

off to BELIZE
And we are off! The first big family vacation with babies in tow was a success. We spent nine days with the Davis clan in San Pedro on Ambergris Caye off the coast of Belize. Two miles from the island is the second largest barrier reef and a great snorkeling destination. But we also enjoyed riding bikes up and down the island and just hanging out.
Graham's trip highlights - lot of snorkeling. Pretty much every day.
Micaelan's trip highlights - sitting around reading and enjoying the view. And the night snorkel trip!
Blue's trip highlights - the golf cart, the "sand box", and the boats! And getting to spend lots of time with Papa and SuSu.
Wiley's trip highlights - the palm fronds fluttering overhead.
Watching the planes take off at the municipal airport.
Negotiating on the bath. No tub and Blue hated the shower
so we filled up cups from the sink. It worked out in the end.
One of the three trip highlights for Blue. He got to sit on
Papa's lap and drive around until a police woman told us
it was illegal. How were we to know? The taxi driver
told us "anything goes in Belize".
Coconut Leo - apparently he is on You Tube.
The last picture of Blue in his sunglasses before he snapped
the ear pieces off. I knew this trip would be the end of them.
Blue socializing with Miss Joycelynn. He knew the names
of all the guests, staff, and tour guides by the time we left.
And he learned to greet people in Spanish.
He was a very helpful grocery store assistant.
Almost out of clean, dry clothes and a diaper
rash creeping in... So he spent the afternoon airing it out.
Captain Blue. He was not the least bit interested in getting in
the water but he did get to "sail" while everyone else took a dip.
Smelling the leaves from the All Spice tree at Altun Ha.
Rice and beans, plantains, potato salad, and turtle!!!
I had chicken.
Goodbye Belize!
night night WILEY
This is how this sweet thing sleeps... Every night.
