I have been meaning to write a new post for a while but couldn't narrow down the topic. But since we are potentially days away at this point I think I will just sum up our last few weeks.
The major theme has been home improvement. I finished the nursery, got everything washed and organized, and then realized the rest of the house was feeling mighty neglected. I knew that if we didn't tackle the problem immediately it could be months before I had the time or energy to think about it. And in the meantime we would be spending tons of time at home in an uncomfortable house. So...
We sold the living room love seat and with the proceeds bought a new love seat AND a new couch for the TV area. Feeling pretty proud of myself, I decided that the office/guest bedroom could use some major love. Graham and I came up with an awesome, low-budget solution and started in on it. At this point, unfortunately, the office has exploded onto the guest bedroom side of the room and if the baby came today we would not be able to host any overnight guests. I'm thinking we have some time though, the baby is still sitting really high.
The Burchfield parents came over this weekend to help us knock out THE LIST and we did get a lot done. Mom channeled her inner bonsai skills and whipped our unruly wisteria bush into shape. And dad and Graham cut down the over-sized plant that was blocking the view from the office. The concrete walls got the best of us though and it looks like we will have to schedule a part 2.
And we got our electrical service updated! Along with new ceiling fans and lighting all over the house. Goodbye horrible, over-sized brown fans! Hello pretty white ones!
That is all the good news. The bad news...I have PUPPS. This is pregnancy speak for a horribly itchy rash all over my stomach. It is fairly common in general and even more common in first pregnancies and in women that are carrying boys (we'll see!). So no more pictures of bare bellies. The cuteness is gone and in its place is tons of little red bumps. The discomfort has me torn between wishing the baby would go ahead and make its way into the world and wishing it would stay put a little longer so that we could finish up the projects we were probably a little ambitious to start.
I hate photo-less posts but right now all you would see is one huge mess. Trust me, it is worth waiting for the finished product.
